The Uzbekistan Pavilion is a journey through the rich layers of the nation’s cultural heritage, inspired by the theme Garden of Knowledge: A Laboratory for a Future Society. Brought to life by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation (ACDF) with an award-winning design by ATELIER BRÜCKNER, the Pavilion mirrors the cycle of life – a spatial expression of the harmony between humans and nature.
 
For centuries, Uzbekistan’s gardens have been essential spaces of retreat – creative hubs for cultural exchange, intellectual reflection, human connection and social gathering, filled with paradise-like beauty. Crafted in a fusion of brick, clay and sugi cedar wood from the mountains surrounding Osaka, the Pavilion is a contemporary reimagining of Uzbekistan’s gardens and architectural heritage. Spanning two levels, it sits on a triangular plot, echoing the form of an ancient Central Asian amulet known as a tumar. The journey carefully unfolds the layers of Uzbekistan’s DNA, from ancient traditions to modern innovations, exploring craftsmanship, technology, materials, sustainability, science, architecture, history and creativity.
